Kim’s Fun Run

Today was Kim’s Fun Run.  It turned out to be a beautiful day!  We had thunderstorms and storms throughout the morning, but by late morning the skies cleared up.  Thankful for the Lord’s provisions.

Here are some of the people that came out to run, walk and watch. (There were a few others that came in that we didn’t get pictures of.)   We know that it was  pretty busy weekend for lots of people.  So thankful for those who came out and those who supported Kim in spirit.

The run was 2 miles long.  It was a great path up and down a beautiful country road. It was quiet.  It was serene.  Perfect.  Our whole family ran except for the youngest two.  Caleb won the ENTIRE run.  He beat all of the adults with an incredible sprint to the finish!!  AMAZING!!  (I keep saying, “Get that boy into a running club!!”)  Nathan came in third with a great time.  Sweet Rachel completed the entire 2 miles only walking just a few times up a VERY long and winding hill.  Sadly, and gratefully, she even beat me.  She was a trooper!  Everyone did great.  Kim walked a portion of this walk despite feeling a bit rugged when she first got there.  She still seems to have good moments and some rougher ones.  Being out in the fresh air was really good for her though.

After the run we enjoyed lunch and were able to rest (as for me, it took me a while to pick myself up off of the floor as I realized that I am sorely OUT of shape.)  The kids played on the bounce house and ran around in the warm sun and quiet countryside.  There were several items for a raffle, and several more for an auction that were fun to look at.  I really wanted more pictures, but in the haste to get everyone there on time, I left my camera on the counter. =(  But here are a couple that I was able to snap with a phone.

Overall, it was an absolutely delightful day!  I think Kim felt loved and encouraged.  Oh and…the fun run, tshirt sales, and auction items brought in over $2,400!!!  Huge, HUGE blessing as Kim has only just returned to half days at work (several weeks ago).  I know this is a gift from God.  THANK YOU, Nikki for all of your hard work!!!  You are beautiful and kind!  Today was delightful.
