Kim Update 1/27

Kim had a really good day today.  Last night she was experiencing some decent nausea that lasted well into the morning.  Thankfully, med’s helped.  Still little to no food going in, but that’s okay.  At least she is not throwing up.  So that is a huge win!IMG_9176

Kim is about 48 hours from begin done with her first round of chemo.  Today, the pain has finally decreased to a somewhat bearable state again (with her high tolerance for pain, I am pretty sure that most everyone else would still be struggling, but she is looking, walking and acting MUCH BETTER).  Praise the Lord!  It is good to see her spirits up, pain down and a bit more energy than she has had for the last few days.  (Four blood transfusions has helped with her energy for sure.)  It has been a LONG 9 days inpatient, but so thankful for the journey thus far.

I didn’t mention before, but Kim switched doctors at the end of last week and it has proven to be a bigger blessing than we could have imagined.  The new doctor is amazing and totally fits her personality.  There was an instant connection and trust which was so good to see.  Along with that, we had the opportunity to meet the case manager that will be following her over the course of her treatments (and for a LONG time after).  She seems to be a gift from God as well!  I love how God is so evident in the little (or not so little) things in life.  I can not express how thankful we are for a good God and a God that clearly leads!  This switch was one of those VERY CLEAR leadings!  I am still in awe tonight to look over the past days and know that God has been right here guiding, helping, leading, providing and encouraging our spirits in more ways than we could count.  Our hearts are filled with deep gratitude watching His ever-loving hand work through hard circumstances.

Kim is ready to go home, and I feel confident that she is just about ready.  Little sis (who acts like the big sis most of the time) is still concerned for her wellbeing.  She is one that likes to be on the go, and sitting tight at home for a while will be a tough challenge to say the least.  The doctors have been great at giving her freedom, but encouraging her to be very wise and listen to her body.  Praying for her in those specific areas tonight.  I know that God is faithful and He is good.  I have watched over the last few days how God has brought many of Kim’s friends as well as my friends around this week to help encourage both of our families and hearts, and I know that He will continue to bring about people to accomplish His plans and care for His children.  Not sure what next week will look like yet, but day by day we will get there.  The Doctor said she could feel like a truck hit her for a few days, but we will have to see how “her” body responds.  Each person is beautiful and unique.  We can not thank you enough for the love and prayers.  Kim still has a good long road ahead, but today, it feels like we are definitely on the right track.

Specific Prayers:
-The chemo is able to eradicate all of the hairy cells this first round.  (We won’t know results for a week or two?)
-No infections
-Blood counts stay up
-Strength, both mental and physical for the last 48 hours of chemo
-Spleen to completely return to normal size (it’s gone down, but is still large, so safety as it shrinks and no further infections)
-Help for Kim when she returns home
-Peace for Kim and Jacob that God is in control
-Sage wisdom

We have been reminded over and over this week of just how faithful God is throughout life’s storms.  Thank you for being used by God in thinking and praying for Kim and our family.  We are BLESSED!!
