Weekend Report 1/25

Kim rocking chemo! Almost halfway done with first treatment!

Kim rocking chemo! Almost halfway done with first treatment!

Kim has handled the first 72 hours of chemo like a champ!  So encouraged by her spirit and fight.

Kim is doing alright.  The pain from her spleen is still present and causing intense pain at times.  However, thankfully, if she can stay ahead of the pain, there seems to be a working system the last couple of days that is better managing the pain.  The nights are the worst.  Seems she still wakes up in pain quite often.  So please pray for more restful nights.

Kim is tolerating the chemo pretty well so far.  She is pretty tired most of the day, but has several hours each day that she is alert and definitely more herself.  A little foggy at time, but not bad yet.  Her appetite has taken a pretty big hit though.  NOTHING sounds good to her.  She takes a few bites of things and then is done.  She needs to keep her strength up, I feel like I am constantly trying to push food to no avail!!  Chemo definitely has affected her desire to eat, and she likes to joke that its a good thing she had extra when this all started. Silly lady.  Sawdust and metal-the taste in her mouth all the time. =(  Ice and mints are her current friends.

Overall chemo is going well, although some adjustments may need to be mad tomorrow from some odd, and painful swelling in her joints.  The doctor said that she had a great deal of the “hairy cell’s” present in her blood but hopeful that this first round of chemo works to destroy what it should!!  Still don’t know what the protocol is for anything beyond Friday.  It will all depend on how her body responds.  Her spleen, and hairy cell count need to both decrease.

Thank you so much for your prayers and love toward our family!  We can feel them, and definite continue to hold close to the Lord for the strength to continue on day by day!!  We are blessed to by you~
