Family Night Fun~ Armor

Love family nights!  Sometimes it seems hard to try to fit them into our busy lives, but they are SO important.  We aim for every week (although sometimes it is more difficult than we would hope to make it work).  However, tonight we had a really fun time.

Getting ready for battle!

We played Samuri.  We blind folded a child and then gave them a “sword” to fend off the “attackers” trying to steal their “clothespins”.  It was so much fun.  We laughed and laughed till the point that we almost cried.  We were sneaky and tricky and used all kinds of attack plans to get the clothes pins.  If you were touched you lost one of your three “lives”.

Wielding her sword! (Sorry for the poor picture, wanted a picture before I entered the battle.)

There is something so fun about spending time with your family and having simple fun while doing it.  Blessings abounded from the effort to have a family night.

Caleb getting ready to rumble!

After the crazy laughing, side splitting fun, we spent some time talking about all of the ways that this activity applied to our lives.  It was so precious to read God’s word together and discuss the way we are to always be ready, stand strong and to watch for the battles that are seen and unseen.  Not only the battle for your soul…but the battle for joy and peace in our home on a daily basis.  Kids LOVED IT!  And, I am pretty sure will remember this lesson for a while.

11 Wear the full armor of God. Wear God’s armor so that you can fight against the devil’s clever tricks. 12 Our fight is not against people on earth. We are fighting against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world’s darkness. We are fighting against the spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly places. 13 That is why you need to get God’s full armor. Then on the day of evil, you will be able to stand strong. And when you have finished the whole fight, you will still be standing.

14 So stand strong with the belt of truth tied around your waist, and on your chest wear the protection of right living. 15 On your feet wear the Good News of peace to help you stand strong. 16 And also use the shield of faith with which you can stop all the burning arrows that come from the Evil One. 17 Accept God’s salvation as your helmet. And take the sword of the Spirit—that sword is the teaching of God. 18 Pray in the Spirit at all times. Pray with all kinds of prayers, and ask for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready. Never give up. Always pray for all of God’s people.

Thankful for an amazing husband that is willing to work alongside me at building in our children’s lives.  Tough days, and hard work…but such a blessing.  May the Lord be glorified!
