Fundraiser Friday…or Saturday=)

Rachel’s Raise of Hope!

ONLY 20 more days!

In 3 Fridays!

I can hardly believe it is coming that quickly.  For weeks and months, it has felt so, so far away, and now I literally know that there are only a few more Friday’s before it is here!!  I am so excited, and yet really feeling the need to pray.  There are so many details to attend to, and as I have said before…that is not my gift.  Sorry for the lack of posts and updates.  I have been really bogged down in those details.  However, the joy of this process is still knowing that others care!  The stories continue to amaze me.  We have heard from others that their cousin died of CF, or brother, or aunt…these remind me that this is about life and an enormous fight before us!  Several years ago we did a video written and performed by 3 people with CF called “Breathe”.   There is a line in that song that says something to the effect, “Sometimes I think I am alright, but then it changes like the weather”.  I know this to be true!  Some days I am almost lulled into thinking that “this” is CF, the medications, the treatments, the careful watchful eye.  But I know that it is not!!!  It is a silent beast ready and willing to destroy my child’s life and future!  Currently, this is the easiest that CF can throw at us.  Rachel has had an amazing last year and a half!  Despite the pseudomonas in September, she has been pretty healthy.  While I am extremely thankful for that, I also know that CF has the ability to turn your life and health upside down with little to no warning.  That is what keeps me fighting.  I recognize the gift of Rachel’s healthy days, and cherish the “CF EASY”.  However, when I hear of a 4 year old that needed part of a lung removed, or a 10 year old that is on oxygen throughout the day to be able to breath…WE MUST FIND A CURE FOR THIS HORRIC DISEASE!!  For Rachel, for the thousands of others that daily deal with the tragedy of CF.  ***When I look at Rachel’s smile, the hope that a cure is closeIf you can’t tell, I have a great deal of emotion, and posts in my head right now, however have had little to no time to write about them.

Now for the fundraiser update~

Meal– I think everything is acquired for the meal.  Drinks, spaghetti, bread, meat, silver wear. =) Now it is just a matter of our great cook preparing it!  Blessings to those who are willing to help us!  It feels good to know that that piece of the event is mostly out of my hands now.

Baskets- The items are starting to come in.  We have had several people bless us this last week with some really fun and creative baskets.  The link below is the list so far, and we are adding items EVERY DAY.  This week we received 2 COACH purses, golfing packages, an amazing photography package, hotel as well as a ton of things for the “kids auction”!   (I will be busy this weekend adding all of these to the current list.)  We are still accepting items, if you have an idea of a basket, or an item ready please let me know.  We would love for you to be part of Rachel’s team in this way!

Shirts– We ordered the shirts last week. Hopefully they are here in about 10 days.  They are really cool!  Here is the graphic that will be on the front and the sponsors on the back.  Blessed by this process and the support from those in the community!  Please let them know that you support Rachel’s Raise of Hope and saw there name on our shirts!  We would love to be able to send business back their way for the generous support in our fight!

This year our whole theme has been Life and Breath.  Simple as it is, with out breath, there is no life!  Many of us take that fact for granted, but CF causes us to realize the joy of being able to breath easily.  It is a true gift.

The shirts will be sold at the event for $10 each (We will have a discount available to those that are helping at the event).  We would be honored if you purchased one!  If you are out of town, you can still order one!  Message me and we can work out the details!

Bake Sale-  Our list is growing here too.  But if baking is your gift, please email me!  Treats are a great way to give, and yield a good return!  Hopefully, there will be plenty of great items for the bake sale, everyone loves a sweet treat.  What better way to support taking down CF, than to take down some “yummies” too!

Helpers-  We have had some amazing people step up to help.  Our friends continue to amaze us!  They have been willing to call and ask their friends and contacts as well as businesses to help us in our fight.  What a blessing.  We also have a pretty good number of people that have offered to help the day of the event. =)  PRAISE THE LORD!  If it is anything like it was last year, I am sure that it will be a pretty busy day!!  There will be something to do on Thursday night  the 12th (the night before, we are going to need  help transferring the baskets that we currently have at our house to the hall) and we plan to be at the hall early on Friday till the clean up after the event on Friday night the 13th!  Those two days will be plum full of action, excitement and the need for help I am sure.  More hands= a lighter work load!  God is good, and I love how He cares for us in so many ways.  Blessing us with amazing friends is just one of them!

Alright, I think that is all for now.  If you think to pray for us please do!  Specific prayer request for Rachel’s health in the next few weeks.  She is well currently, but we really need for her to stay well through out the fundraiser.  Also, although we love the end of the fundraiser and what it represents, it is also a TON of work!  Pray for quick hands, clear minds, and hearts that are completely focused on the Lord’s will.  While we hope to have an amazing amount of people at the event and even more money raised than last year…our primary focus is still to please the Lord in all that we say and do!  He is our Light, He alone is our Hope!  Because he is Lord of our lives, we want to honor Him above all else!  Seek first His Kingdom~

Off to enjoy a busy, awesome day with my family!   May you be blessed today!
