Bless the Lord O, My Soul!!

Amazed!  On Saturday these incredible young men showed up at our house to present us with a gift that meant far beyond what words could ever express.  As we watched them all walk up to our house, Rachel was the first to notice that they were all wearing their Rachel’s Raise of Hope t-shirts, and squealed with delight at that sight.  What came next, was a blessing straight from the hand of the Lord!  The boys presented us with a bag full of M.O.N.E.Y!!!  They collectively had raised $820.00!!!!!!  When they first said that, the impact of what $820.00 and the effort that it must have taken for them to raise that much money was absolutely astounding!   My heart filled with intense gratitude to the Lord for these special, precious young people that cared about my child and her life!  They were standing before me with servant hearts willing to “do what they could do” to make a difference for Miss Rachel.  They have watched her struggles and have diligently prayed for her health, so this was to them,  just a practical way to help answer prayers for her health!

This is the note that we were presented with on Saturday. Love the CAFCCF Committee for the Advancement of Funds for the cure of Cystic Fibrosis!

So, after I wiped my tears and could appropriately respond to their incredible generosity, I was able to hear the many stories of tremendous love and care!  (There were a several sweet kids that contributed that were unable to deliver the delightful gift, but our heart remember with great gratitude EVERYONE THAT WAS PART OF THIS EFFORT!)   The stories included a family that did a garage sale and donated all of the proceeds.  One sweet boy collected cans to recycle for months.  Not only that, but after the owner of the can company found out what he was doing, and why, he donated an additional amount towards the boys efforts.  Another fundraising story came from a lemonade stand with a big CF sign to encourage people to donate.  There were even several people that stopped by their stand specifically because they had lost a nephew, or cousin to CF.  Another family recycled scrap metal.  All of the boys gave money from their allowance!  Talk about self-less young people!!!  These boys exhibited qualities that are not of the world, but rather directly from the Creator’s hand.  Despite the many heartaches that come from CF, the blessing of God’s faithfulness continues to shine clearly through His great care in and through His servants.  Eternally and gratefully humbled by the kindness of these Godly young people in caring for Rachel’s need…for a cure!!

In closingI am reminded of Psalm 103

 Bless the LORD, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
