Like Daniel

This last week we have struggled up and down with tummy troubles, and enzymes.  Finally, the other day after reading about Daniel in our morning devotions I decided that I would pray that Rachel would be like Daniel in that God would use the food she ate to strengthen her.  Her favorites of course being things like onions, and tomatoes (there could be a hundred sweet things on the counter, but she would still try to sneak to get the vegetables that she likes).  So this last week she has eaten a very bland diet, no greasy foods, or oil added to her meals, an occasional avocado here and there, but not too many.  She has enjoyed things like baked chicken and broccoli.  Not a bad meal by any means, but not a normal way for her to gain the weight.  On her other enzymes her body could handle meals with lots of fat, Creon, this new enzyme does not seem to work the same way.

Needless to say, it has been a struggle for me to watch the little bits going in her mouth.  At the beginning of the week she weighed barely 40 lbs.  Tonight she stepped on the scale and it registered 42.8!!!!!  Amazed, I made her jump off and back on three more times!!  God is amazing!  To top the night off, before she went to bed tonight she asked me to read her a story from her Bible (we are going through it page by page), guess what story it was????? Daniel and being strengthened by the Lord with fruits and vegetables. So very cool.

We have a doctors appointment tomorrow with the G.I. dr.  I am a bit nervous for Rachel. I really try hard to prepare her when we go to the doctors so she will know what to expect.  I, however, have no idea what to expect other than they want to look at some of her liver enzymes that are elevated, and hopefully give us some guidance and direction on her enzymes (we are aware everytime we go to the dr there are all sorts of possibilities – blood draws, scans, or other test so I do my best to put on a brave face for Rachel).  Tomorrow, I will have to inform this new Dr. that the Master Physician is already on this case. =)  Hopefully, I will have some good news to report regardless tomorrow, and hopefully it is a quick and painless appointment for Rachel. Anyway, just wanted to share the goodness of the Lord with you today.  He is so good to us even in the little ways.
