Blessed By the Day

I love days like today.  Most of my days are filled with total kid related activities (which I am thankful and blessed by), but it is often cumbersome and difficult to see the joy in the midst of the work and duties.  Today however I have been blessed greatly by the Lord.  It has been one of those days that you just know that the Lord is giving you a gift!  The morning started out pretty early, my sweet Shiloh up bright and early like usual.  (I was hoping that she would sleep in since she did not have a nap yesterday at the baseball game.)  So…6:15am is not a time that I am particularly fond of seeing my little people, but…we made the most of it.

Got the pool ready for the day (while it was still cool).  The rest of the kids got up around 7am and we ate, and had our devotions.  It has been an amazing time to really be able to break the Bible down with the kids.  It has blessed me greatly!!  We read Micah 6 and 7 today.  First we read Micah 7:1-4 and talked about how important it is to run after good with both hands rather than evil.  We likened it being in the midst of an evil world where there is sin all around.  It is easy to do wrong.  We then read Micah 6:8 in several versions.  That was a lot of fun.  He has show you what is good and what the Lord requires of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. What a little verse…but with such big meaning.  We were able to discuss the meaning of this verse for a really long time.  We sang after that, prayed and started the rest of our morning. It was fun!

Then…the day got even better after Rachel’s treatment.  The boys worked hard doing some of their math and language while we did her treatment (we are going to do these two subjects every day that we are home this summer just to keep fresh).  I decided to clean the van after a loooooong winter of ick and kid goo.  Nathan came out to help me.  Caleb was very sweet too.  He made a picnic for the girls in the front yard complete with cheetos and water.=) Then pretty soon all of the kids were out to help.  It was great!  They were all working so dilegently.  An hour later our van was clean!!  I had the three bigger ones asking me very often what else they could do to help. That brings a mother’s heart joy.  It is kinda funny that I am so thrilled to be able to say that I accomplished something today.  I know that homeschooling is a great accomplishment, however at times it is hard to see the progress day to day.  A clean van…although not as important as any one of my precious children was definitely a nice change today!

Now, we will pray that the rest of the day is just as sweet.  We just received Rachel’s new enzymes from the pharmacy a few minutes ago so…Lord willing we will be able to talk about the joy of our enzyme problem solved soon.  God is faithful and He is good!
